Early June is a great time for a fly fishing course! In the Simojoki Fly Fishing Course you will learn the right techniques, and you will learn to interpret the river and the fishing area. That is the key to successful salmon fishing all around the world. The course is aimed especially for beginners and anglers who don't yet have very much experience. Course content

During the course, you will learn the use of both one-handed and two-handed fly rod. A little theory and a lot of practical training! In the evening, you can also try fly tying, have a sauna, and enjoy delicious meals of the restaurant. The course price includes accommodation and meals.

We recommend you to bring your own fishing and wading equipment. Some fly fishing sets are also availble for loan.

River Simojoki

The river Simojoki is one of the few free flowing rivers in Northern Europe with its own unique salmon population. Considering the size of the river, the size of the salmon population in the river is a quite large, as thousands of salmon run into the river every year. In addition, the river Simojoki has its own unique grayling population. At the mouth of the river, you can also catch chubby perch and record pikes.

Lapinkoski fishing area starts at a front of you log cabin. Lapinkoski has mild rapids and is wonderfully suitable especially for fly fishermen. As our guest you can enjoy privacy for salmon fishing! We are also located near the popular public salmon and greyling fishing spots which means that you have a plenty of great areas to fish. At our webshop you can also find a professional fishing guide if you wish to know more about the river and Simoriver salmon fishing.

In our log cabins of about 35 square meters you will find beds for max 6 people, a shower, a kitchen corner and all the other amenities of a high-quality accommodation for example air heat/cool pumps in each cabins. During the summer (from June to August) our restaurant Simojoen Lohiranta is serving daily Lapinkoski guests.

We are located right next to the best fishing spots

All best fishing spots nearby! Lapinkoski area, Hömmönkoski, Lohiranta Louhelankari, Hanskankoski are suitable areas for fishing right at the beginning of the season. Fishing season starts during late May / early June and lasts until the end of the open water season September / October (Salmon fishing allowed only until 31th of Aug). Lapinkoski is also a popular spawning area in Autumn.

During the fishing season, the restaurant Lohiranta nearby is daily open.

20.00- sauna and fly tying, the most enthusiastic are free to go fishing by themselves at night

The price of the course includes a top guide for fly fishing, accommodation, meals and a sauna if yoy wish to enjoy a traditional finnish sauna experience.

Fishing takes place at Louhelankari, Lapinkoski, Hömmönkoski and Hanskankoski. We move between regions according to the situation. All fishing areas are about three kilometers apart.

Note! The fishing permit fee and state fisheries management fee are not included in the price, but a paperwork can be done while you have arrived. The price per participant is 25 € / day (for under 18s 12.5€ / day) and the state fisheries management fee is 6 € / day (for under 18s free).

We want to support young people's fishing activities. The price of the course is 259€ for children and young people (under 18), 299€ for adults. NOTE! If you want to continue your fishing holiday on your own, for example after the course, ask Lapinkoski about the possibility of extra nights when booking! By default accommodation is in Lohiranta in quiet rooms for 2-4 people.
