Welcome to the ladies "Mimmit Kalastaa" fly fishing course in Simojoki! Whether you are a beginner or a more experienced fly fisher, this course will definitely give you more tips to improve your hobby. During the course, you get to use the 1- and 2-handed fly fishing rods and techniques how to flyfish grayling, trout, salmon and pike. During the course, you will be accommodated in the well-equipped Lapinkoski log cabins in Lapinkoski's fishing and recreation area (shared accommodation 4 ladies per cabin). Additional accommodation can be found in the cozy rooms of the neighboring main building of Lohiranta. Meals also take place at Lohiranta's restaurant, and for Saturday meals are included in the course price.

The price of the course includes accommodation, fishing gears, fishing guiding, and meals for the course day on Saturday. The fishery management fee and the river licence are paid separately on site. For course participants, all permits cost a total of €62 for the period Fri-Sun. The course takes a maximum of 12 people to ensure high-quality training, if there are 8 registered, the course will be organized with one leader, the course will take place when there are at least 6 participants.
The course participants use high-quality, 1- and 2-handed Guideline and Hardy fly fishing equipment built by our professional guides, equipped with an American Royal Wulff line that is really easy to cast. If after the course the fly equipment comes on the purchase list, it is possible to get the fly set or fishing line you like from Lapinkoski's store or through the course guides.

The course is open for all ladies who are interested in fly fishing, regardless of age! During the weekend, you will learn casting techniques with one- and two-handed rods, you will learn to read the river and the area to be fished. Every year at our courses, someone lucky usually also gets to do real work with salmon.
Accommodation
Accommodation for the fastest bookers in the comfortable and well-equipped beach cabins of Lapinkoski's fishing and recreation area. During the course, accommodation takes place in the same cabin with other course participants. Accommodation is also available in the rooms of Lohiranta's main building. The program in general
In the course, we learn both the use of a one-handed casting rod and the two-handed handling of a sturdier salmon rod. There is a lot of practical training on Simojoki for the best salmon fishing season! In the evening, there is also the opportunity to fly-tying, sauna and dining in good company surrounded by wonderful nature on the shore of the Simojoki River in Lapinkoski and Lohiranta.
Gears
During the course, we use the top-quality Hardy, Guideline and Royal Wulff fly tackle selections, which can be used and tested during the course. The Hardy and Guideline rod and reel collection is also on sale in Lapinkoski's online store. If the purchase decision for e.g. rod and reel is confirmed during the course, you can purchase the right gear for you through us. If you want to get your own fly fishing set before coming to the course, contact us and our guides can build you a high-quality and well-thought-out package. We recommend that you also bring your own wading equipment, we do not offer wading equipment on behalf of the house.

Getting to know places and fellow ladies. In the evening, you can enjoy a sauna at Lapinkoski's beach sauna.
Saturday
9.00-10.00 breakfast in Lohiranta
10:00 to get to know the equipment and the basics of casting in Lapinkoski, we start from Lapinkoski's aurora hut ("Aurora Hut & Kitchen") and its riverside.
13.00 lunch in Lohiranta
14:00 fishing with a guide in Lapinkoski. The Lapinkoski northern lights lodge is used by the course participants as a base.
18:00 dinner/snack at Lohiranta's cottage
20:00 fly tying at Lapinkoski's landscape hut and for the most enthusiastic, self-directed fishing at night. Possibility of sauna in Lapinkoski.
Sunday
8:00-10:00 a.m. breakfast available at Lohiranta's restaurant
10.00 fishing with a guide

The course price includes accommodation, meals for Saturday and a sauna, as well as the high-quality training of a professional guide. Fishing takes place in the Lapinkoski Fishing and Recreation Area, Lohiranta Louhelankari and Hömmönkoski and Hanskankoski. We move between regions depending on the situation. All fishing areas are located at a distance of about three kilometers from each other.
Note! The fishing license and the state fishery maintenance fee are not included in the price, but they can be easily taken care of when you arrive in Lohiranta. The price of a fishing license for course participants (in 2024) is 25€/day (12.50€/day for under 18s) and the state fishing management fee is 6€/day (free for under 18s).

The river Simojoki is one of the few free flowing rivers in Northern Europe with its own unique salmon population. Considering the size of the river, the size of the salmon population in the river is quite large, as thousands of salmon run into the river every year. In addition, the river Simojoki has its own unique grayling population. At the mouth of the river, you can also catch chubby perch and record pikes. Here in our online store you can also find a professional fishing guide if you wish to know more about the river Simojoki and the other destinations dearby. We are also a great basecamp for other nature activities like Northern light hunting, hiking, kayaking, bird watching, snowmobiling, ice fishing, snow shoeing, hunting activities - you name it.
We are easily accessible from Oulu or Rovaniemi Airports, just an hour's drive away. From Lapinkoski it's 1,5 hour drive to the Santa Claus village in Rovaniemi, 1 hour to the Ranua Zoo, 45 minute drive to Kemi where you can visit the snow castle or icebreaker Sampo. Just a 15min walk from Lapinkoski there is also a restaurant Lohiranta (open daily 1st of June - 31th of Aug, other times upon reservation, for groups only). By car you can also easily access a husky farm, a petting zoo and a reindeer farm. The Lapinkoski area is also a great base camp if you wish to visit the Martinmoaapa mire conservation area for trekking, fishing or chasing the Northern Lights.
