Start your fly fishing journey safely and effectively in the stunning surroundings of the Simojoki River! During the course, you’ll learn how to cast with a two-handed fly rod, get familiar with the basics of salmon fishing, and gain the skills and confidence you need for independent fishing trips throughout the summer – all under the guidance of our experienced guides, with the peace and beauty of nature all around you.
🎯 Who is this course for?
This course is designed for beginner fly fishers with little or no previous experience. You’ll receive hands-on instruction in the fundamentals of casting, gear setup, understanding salmon behavior, and reading the river to find the best fishing spots.
With a maximum of 8 participants, you’ll enjoy personal guidance and a relaxed small-group learning environment.

Saturday, 5 June
10:00 – Arrival at Lohiranta (Ranuantie 219, Simo) and welcome coffee
10:15 – Introduction to the equipment and basics of casting technique
13:00 – Lunch
14:00 – Guided fishing at Lapinkoski and nearby areas
18:00 – Evening snack at Lohiranta
20:00 – Sauna, introduction to fly tying and an opportunity for night fishing
Sunday, 6 June
08:00 – Breakfast at Lohiranta
10:00 – Guided fishing continues
13:00 – Lunch and check-out from the cabin
14:00–17:00 – Independent fishing with guidance and tips from your instructor

🌊 Why the Simojoki River?
Simojoki is Finland’s only natural Baltic salmon river that flows entirely within the country’s borders – free-flowing, untouched, and unregulated. Its shallow, easily accessible current and scenic riverbanks make it an ideal location to begin fly fishing.
The course takes place at the start of the salmon season when fish are active and more likely to strike – the perfect time for beginners to experience early success and build confidence!
