The river Simojoki is one of the few free flowing rivers in Northern Europe with its own unique salmon population. Considering the size of the river, the size of the salmon population in the river is quite large, as thousands of salmon run into the river every year. In addition, the river Simojoki has its own unique grayling population. At the mouth of the river, you can also catch chubby perch and record pikes. We are easily accessible from Oulu or Rovaniemi Airports, just an hour's drive away. From Lapinkoski it's 1,5 hour drive to the Santa Claus village in Rovaniemi, 1 hour to the Ranua Zoo, 45 minute drive to Kemi where you can visit the snow castle or icebreaker Sampo. Just a 15min walk from Lapinkoski there is also a restaurant Lohiranta (open daily 1st of June - 31th of Aug, other times upon reservation, for groups only). By car you can also easily access a husky farm, a petting zoo and a reindeer farm. The Lapinkoski area is also a great base camp if you wish to visit the Martinmoaapa mire conservation area for trekking, fishing or chasing the Northern Lights.
